Rider student presented with The Bishop’s Certificate

Erin Mulvenna, a 2009 honors graduate from Our Lady of Mercy Academy, Newfield, was recently presented with The Bishop’s Certificate, given to a Senior Girl Scout within the Diocese of Camden, who achieves the Gold Award and completes the “Spirit Alive” Religious Award.

Erin, now a freshman at Rider University in Lawrenceville and majoring in marine science, earned the certificate through service and leadership in both the Catholic school community at OLMA and at her parish, Our Lady of Lourdes in Glassboro.

She served in the lector ministry at Our Lady of Lourdes, and was also a member of the Franciscan Mystery Players from Holy Family Parish in Sewell. Her Gold Award project was the successful OLMA Book Connection, which established a network for students to buy and sell their used textbooks.

In achieving the Spirit Alive Award, Erin assisted the scout ambassador in helping scouts discover how the Holy Spirit moves in their lives and calls them to greater participation in the church’s ministry.

During her four years at OLMA, Erin ran cross country, was a member of the National Honor Society, Chorus Angelorum, and a student team leader for the annual Kairos retreat.
