Diocesan staff and seminarians, as well as dignitaries from across the state congratulated Bishop Dennis Sullivan as he was honored April 17 with an Achievement Award from the College Seminary of the Immaculate Conception at Saint Andrew’s Hall, Seton Hall University.
He was joined by fellow honoree and Humanitarian Award recipient Katia Passerini, Ph.D., the university’s recent interim president.

During the institution’s annual Notes of Distinction Benefit, Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin, Archbishop of Newark, noted in his printed remarks Pope Francis’ reflection on the Letter of Saint Paul to the Galatians: “‘Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest, if we do not give up. So then, while we have the opportunity, let us do good to all.’ (Gal 6:9-10) I do not think anyone can question the resoluteness with which each of this evening’s honorees answered this exhortation. Most Reverend Dennis Sullivan and Ms. Katia Passerini’s contributions to our Local Church and Community, as well as their prayerful support for the important work of priestly formation, stand out as worthy of our recognition and praise.”
