St. Mary School, student honored

St. Mary School, Williamstown has recently been awarded the Nonpublic Program School Award by Gloucester County Special Services School District (GCSSSD).

St. Mary School principal Judith McBride, vice principal Claire Whittaker, and school staff were honored at a celebration Jan. 20 at Gloucester County Institute of Technology.

St. Mary School was honored because of its commitment to education and supportive approach that has fostered students’ success.

GCSSSD provides a number of services to St. Mary School, including compensatory education, supplementary instruction, speech therapy, child study team, teacher assistance and nursing.

catholicschools-web3At the same ceremony Molly Gilkin, 9, a third-grade student, was awarded the Nonpublic Speech-Language Program Award. Some 20 family members along with many school staff were present for the celebration. Molly was nominated by Nancy Leipert, her speech-language specialist.
