Members of parish-based senior ministry programs throughout the Diocese of Camden are invited to a Senior PROM (to Party and Rejoice in Our Ministry) later this month, two evenings of “celebration and thanksgiving for the joy of aging with healthy minds, bodies and spirits,” says Deacon Jerry Jablonowski, executive director of VITALity Catholic Healthcare Services of the Diocese of Camden.
Sponsored by VITALity, the proms – complete with food, prizes, music and dancing to the hits of the 40s, 50s, 60 and 70s – will be held at two parish locations: Northfield and Mantua.
“These two events will mark the years of faith that our seniors have lived with joy-filled lives,” Deacon Jablonowski says, adding that the proms are the department’s “way of giving back to [seniors] for all they have done for us and provide a wonderful opportunity for them to meet other seniors and share stories of family, friends and experiences that have shaped their lives over the years.”
Deacon Jablonowski praised the parish-based senior ministries around the Diocese as communities of “prayer, caring service and fellowship that model the promise of hope in living a full life of joy and self-giving.”
VITALity’s first Senior PROM will be held May 12 at Saint Gianna Beretta Molla Parish Hall, 1421 New Road, Northfield; the second is set for May 19 at Incarnation Parish’s Kernan Center, 240 Main Street, Mantua. Both will be from noon to 4 p.m.
The cost is $10 per person; come as a couple, in a group, or on your own and meet others. For more information or to R.S.V.P., contact Karen Fisher at 856-583-6121, or e-mail VITALity-events@camdendiocese.org.
