The South Jersey Catholic Medical Association is sponsoring its Annual Communion Breakfast for Healthcare Workers on May 1 at St. Lucy’s Church on Route 73 in Blue Anchor. Father Michael Manning, M.D. will be the featured speaker.
Bishop Joseph Galante will celebrate the Mass at 9 a.m., followed by the breakfast and speaker in the church hall.
Father Manning is a physician and coordinator of Respect Life Ministries for the Diocese of Trenton. The pastor of Holy Cross Parish in Rumson, Father Manning practiced medicine for 17 years before entering St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore. As a physician, Father Manning is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, as well as geriatrics. He practiced at Staten Island University Hospital, where he served as director of emergency medical services and at New York Downstate Medical Center.
Father Manning has written about physician-assisted suicide, “the ethical physician” and health care reform. He has lectured on ethics and taught courses on bioethics, as well as spirituality and healing. His column on bioethical and biomedical issues appears regularly in The Monitor, newspaper of the Trenton Diocese.
Father Manning will speak on “The Healer’s Touch.”
The South Jersey Health Care Association is an organization of Catholic physicians living or practicing in the Diocese of Camden. It promotes Catholic morals and values in health care.
Tickets for the event cost $12.50 for members of the South Jersey Catholic Medical Association or $15 for other adults. Children’s tickets cost $9.
