Gloucester Catholic High School will expand its programs to include a junior high for the coming academic year.
The school will host an information-registration night for prospective students, and their families, on Tuesday, July 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Administrators, faculty and current GCHS students will be on hand to discuss academics, athletics, extra-curricular activities, transportation and related concerns. Applications are available on the school’s website, www.gchsrams.org. Additional information is also available by contacting admissions director Tony Powers at tpowers@gchsrams.org or 856-456-4400.
Gloucester Catholic made the decision to expand its program to include seventh and eighth grade students in response to the closing of its next-door-neighbor, St. Mary’s School. The new partnership will provide opportunities for junior high students to share the expertise of high school personnel in academic areas, as well as art, music and technology.
The junior high will maintain an independent identity with a separate teaching staff, curriculum, athletic program, social events and a distinct uniform.
“We are excited to write a new chapter in Gloucester Catholic’s storied history,” said principal John Colman. “I am grateful to Bishop Galante who gave permission for this expansion and I am pleased that we have this opportunity to offer the Dominican tradition and Ram Pride to more young people.”
