The Franciscan Sisters of the Renewal in Atlantic City are looking for volunteers to help with their upcoming Saint Joseph Winter Shelter at the Parish of Saint Monica’s Quaremba Hall.

The shelter, to be open Monday-Thursday, Dec. 12-March 10, 2023, will help the city’s homeless by providing a warm meal, bed and hospitality during the year’s coldest nights.
Open volunteer positions include:
• Setup teams: make beds and prepare spaces for the night
• Intercessors: commit to being in the church to pray, let people in, and lead a recitation of the Rosary
• Dinner cooks and servers: provide a hardy and balanced meal for 32 hungry individuals. Food needs to be cooked in a certified kitchen or in Quaremba Hall
• Hospitality: help with intake and hospitality, serve dinner, serve as security, facilitate a joyful evening
• Night shift: provide overnight security and presence. Supervise smoking breaks. Serve breakfast in the morning
• Cleaning teams (Friday mornings only): take down cots to mop and do a deep clean of the hall.
