Hundreds of Catholic youth and adults will gather on Sunday, April 1, at Holy Family Parish in Sewell for the 2012 Diocesan Youth Congress, celebrating Catholic Youth Ministry.
With the theme of “Light for the World,” the keynote speaker will be Carrie Ford, a singer, songwriter, actress and teacher who has been sharing her message of God’s unfailing love with audiences across the globe, for almost 20 years, using drama and music to demonstrate the power of God.
The Diocesan Youth Congress is a 10:15 a.m.- 5:30 p.m., one-day experience of prayer, learning, community and evangelization for Catholic teenagers in grades 8-12, and their adult chaperones. The day will include liturgy, prayer, a general session, workshops in English and Spanish, and a special extended session, called “Growing Youth Ministry.” Lunch is included.
Workshop highlights include Sean Paul Murray, theology teacher at Bishop Eustace Prep, and his presentation on “#Dying Child,” about the power of technology in witnessing Christ; Kari Janisse and Dan Palmieri, Youth Ministers from Our Lady of Peace, Williamstown, and their presentation on the saints; and Julie LaRosa, youth minister at Holy Family, and her presentation on leadership and service.
Parishes are encouraged to send a delegation of youth to the event. The cost is only $15 per person, and scholarships are available.
