Peter Francis Joyce, 84, of Cape May Court House, father of Msgr. Peter Joyce, pastor of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish, Sicklerville, died March 8.

Born in Narberth, Pa., he served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959, before taking root in Cape May County, where he would reside for more than 50 years. He became known for his dedication to the community, particularly as a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and the Knights of Columbus. He dedicated many fulfilling years as a manager for United Parcel Service.

An avid Philadelphia sports fan, he especially loved cheering for the Flyers. His passion for playing music brought joy to many gatherings and will be remembered fondly.

Joyce “was a man of profound kindness, faith, and love who touched the lives of all who knew him. His commitment to faith and service was an inspiration to many,” his family remembered in a statement announcing his passing.

He shared 60 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Anne Josephine (nee Kelly) Joyce. Together, they raised a loving family that included sons Peter and Brendan (Maureen); and daughters Donna Sayers (Leo) and Linda Hassard (Joseph). They were blessed with eight grandchildren – Thomas Capito (Mindy), Peter Capito, John Capito (Angela), Danielle Floeter (Rainer), Connor Hassard, Kieran Hassard, Eamon Joyce and Lucas Joyce – and two great-grandchildren, Ella Rose Capito and Thomas Austin Capito.

He was the caring brother to his predeceased siblings, Thomas “Luke” (Jean), John (Gloria), James (Ruth), Mary Grenier (Andrew), Rose Kemp (James), and Ann Carlisle.

A funeral Mass was celebrated March 14 with interment as in Resurrection Cemetery, Clermont.
