More than 120 volunteers who give their time and talents to support the South Jersey Catholic Ministries Appeal were honored earlier this month with an appreciation dinner. The volunteers, who were joined by the parish pastors, gathered at Tomasello Winery, Hammonton, for faith and friendship.

“I’m impressed by the efforts of everyone involved. Serving half a million Catholics through faith, education and social services, you’re truly doing God’s work and improving the lives of many,” said Jennifer Lon, associate director of the Office of Development for the Diocese of Camden.
The appeal, formerly known as House of Charity – Bishop’s Annual Appeal, supports essential ministries on both the diocesan and parish levels including vocations, faith formation, Hispanic and Black Catholic ministries, youth and young adults, Catholic education and more. Parishes that reach their monetary goal receive a 10 percent rebate; they receive 75 percent of every dollar raised over goal for their needs.

Vince Sesso of Holy Angels Parish, Woodbury, has volunteered for the diocesan campaign for more than 10 years. He encouraged others to share their talents, saying, “My motivation is that I have the time and I believe in what I am doing. If you have the same, I encourage you to volunteer.”
