The Diocese of Camden is will be taking part in the annual Peter’s Pence Collection the weekend of June 28-30. Last year, the Diocese collected $94,968 to support the Holy Father’s charitable outreach to victims of war, migrants and refugees, the poor, and those affected by illness and natural disasters.
When the faithful participate in this annual collection, they join Catholics across the globe in supporting the pope’s mission of mercy as well as the Holy See dicasteries that assist his ministry. For example, when a series of powerful earthquakes and aftershocks hit Turkey and Syria in February 2023, killing more than 50,000, the Holy See was able to organize a shipment of canned food, diapers, thermal garments, and other necessities, to be sent to Turkey. At the same time, economic aid to Syrian victims was entrusted to the apostolic nunciature in Syria.
