2021 Bishop Eustace Preparatory School graduate Ian Petrutz was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 12th round of the 2024 Major League Baseball Draft.
Petrutz was drafted out of the University of Alabama, where he played left field and batted .321 with 40 RBIs and 42 runs scored this season as a junior. He played his freshman and sophomore years of college ball at the University of Maryland.
Petrutz, a Mantua native, played two years at Clearview High School before transferring to Bishop Eustace, where he played his senior season (2020 was canceled due to COVID-19). Petrutz batted .449 at Eustace during his senior year.
