This year St. Andrew the Apostle Parish will celebrate its Jubilee Year leading to the 50th anniversary of the parish.

On Feb. 9, 1963, Archbishop Celestine J. Damiano directed that Gibbsboro and the greater portion of Voorhees Township would become a parish under the patronage of St. Andrew the Apostle. On June 28, 1963, a 15 acre tract along Kresson-Gibbsboro Road was purchased to serve as the future site of the Church of St. Andrew.

Msgr. Louis A. Marucci, St. Andrew’s seventh pastor, states, “Since 1963, our parish has continued to grow in size, diversity and vibrancy as we welcome new members to our parish family. I invite all to join us as we celebrate the very special events that have been planned to celebrate our Jubilee Year.”

To coincide with Pope Benedict XVI’s proclamation of the “Year of Faith,” St. Andrew the Apostle Parish will also celebrate a year of Faith and Renewal beginning this month and concluding on the feast of St. Andrew on Nov. 30, 2013. The theme is “Celebrating Christ Yesterday & Today.”

Msgr. Marucci said he hopes that the community will take advantage of these “opportunities for true discipleship as we strive to live out our mission to live in God’s peace through prayer, worship, education and Christian fellowship.”

The parish recently published and distributed a 36 page “Parish Jubilee Booklet” that highlights the liturgical, spiritual and social events that have been planned. All are welcome to attend any event. Information about the jubilee events is available on St. Andrew the Apostle’s new parish website: www.ChurchofStAndrews.org

To receive a copy of the Parish Jubilee Booklet please write to St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, 27 Kresson-Gibbsboro Road, Gibbsboro, NJ 08026 or call the parish at 856-784-3878.

Jubilee events include Biblical Institute, Mass in honor of St. Gerard Majella, Church Chat Sessions, Lenten Renewal, Small Faith Communities, Mardi Gras Celebration, St. Joseph’s Table Feast, pilgrimages to the Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel (Hammonton) The Wedding of the Sea (Atlantic City), and to the Holy Land.
