Sister M. Pauline Posedly dies

Sister M. Pauline Posedly, a member of the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy, Villa Rossello, Newfield, died on April 4 at Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Nursing Center in York, Pa where she had been a resident for four years.

She was 81.

Born in Ramey, Pa., Sister Pauline was the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Kasprick Posedly. She entered the Congregation of the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy, Newfield, on July 16, 1953, and professed her vows on Aug. 16, 1955.

Sister Pauline’s life was characterized by her deep life of persevering prayer and her dedication to the ministry of teaching. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from College Misericordia, Dallas, Pa.

She taught at St. Mary Magdalene Millville, and St. Francis of Assisi, Vineland in the Diocese of Camden, and schools in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.

From 1996 until her retirement in 2005, she served as coordinator of religious education at Most Precious Blood Parish, Hazleton, PA.

In addition to her parents, Sister Pauline was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Paul and by her sisters Anna Marusa, Margaret Dennis, Mary Ann Posedly, Mildred Evcic and Josephine Marusa.

Surviving are nieces Margaret Traczyk, Mary Jane Lichtler and Sister Joanne Marusa, OSF; great nephews Father Michael Brunovsky, OSB and Father Steven Brunovsky, OSB, as well as many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews of her large extended family, and by her religious community, the Daughters of Mercy.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in the chapel at Villa Rossello, Newfield, April 8, followed by burial at Pietá Cemetery on the grounds of Villa Rossello.

Contributions in Sister Pauline’s memory may be made to the Daughters of Mercy, Villa Rossello, 1009 Main Road, Newfield, NJ 08344.
