Parish prayer group coordinators of the Hispanic Charismatic Renewal from the Diocese of Camden recently attended a national conference aimed at helping charismatic leaders better bring faith and the love of the Holy Spirit to their parish communities.
Leaders from Our Lady Star of the Sea, Atlantic City; Our Lady of Guadalupe, Lindenwold; and St. Joseph Pro-Cathedral, Camden attended ECCLE 2013 (Encuentro Catolico Carismatico Latino Estadounidense-Latino Encounter of Catholic Charismatics in the United States) in Little Rock, Ark., from April 19-21.
Sponsored by the Comite Nacional de Servicio Hispano (National Hispanic Service Committee), the three-day conference attracted more than 300 charismatic leaders from the United States and Canada, and centered around the theme of “La Puerta de la Fe siempre está abierta” — “The door of faith is always open.”
Michelle Moran, president of the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services in the Vatican, was the keynote speaker, and provided talks on focusing on the new evangelization, receiving the power of the Holy Spirit, and the saving power of Jesus that is given to those who love him.
On all three days, Mass was celebrated by Msgr. Joseph Malagreca of Brooklyn, the spiritual director of the Hispanic National Service Committee.
The eight individuals from the Diocese of Camden who attended the conference returned to South Jersey “empowered by the Holy Spirit, filled with joy, and ready to continue to serve and evangelize, in their parish communities,” said Kathia Arango, diocesan coordinator for the Hispanic Charismatic Renewal.
