Only hours after returning from Italy, Bishop Joseph Williams celebrated Mass on Oct. 29 with the school community at Holy Spirit High School, Absecon. During his homily, Bishop Williams shared some highlights of his pilgrimage to Rome, which he led with a delegation of diocesan leaders to take part in the worldwide synodal process. The pilgrimage included a visit to Assisi and the burial site of Saint Carlo Acutis. The Bishop shared stories about the recently canonized saint, including the teen’s love for technology, the Eucharist and the Mass. Bishop Williams implored the students to attend Mass regularly, starting this Sunday, asking, “Why not?” Before heading back to class, students presented Bishop Williams with a special Spartan-inspired gift, including a Holy Spirit High School scarf and sweatshirt.
