In a wild, high-scoring affair, the Gloucester Catholic High School baseball team outlasted St. Augustine Preparatory School, 10-8, in the Mid-Atlantic Baseball Challenge on April 8 in Richland.
Sophomore Brayden Moughan delivered a two-run home run in the third inning to put the Rams up, 3-1. Senior Hank Biglin tied it back up for St. Augustine Prep with a two-run triple in the bottom half of the inning.
The teams exchanged runs and were tied 4-4 until Gloucester Catholic exploded for five runs in the top of the sixth inning. The big blow came from Moughan, who crushed a three-run double to left field.
Gloucester Catholic is now 8-3 on the season, which included a 2-2 showing at the USA Baseball National High School Invitational in North Carolina.
The Hermits are also 8-3 as of press deadline.
