Laughter, music and applause filled the Scottish Rite Grand Ballroom in Collingswood on April 19 as hundreds gathered for the 34th annual “Afternoon of Jazz, Plus.” Sponsored by the diocesan Black Catholic Ministry Commission, the annual event raises funds to help South Jersey students pursue a Catholic high school education. During the festivities, past scholarship awardees publicly thanked their benefactors.

Above, Father Vincent Guest, BCMC coordinator, stands with Jace Schwartz, incoming Bishop Eustace freshman; Bishop Eustace freshman Daniella Okoye; Paul VI freshmen Isabelle Petit-Homme and Brielle Nelson; and the commission’s Cheryl Wright.

Below, Deacon Bill Johnson, center, poses for a photo with Father Gerard Marable, pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Galloway, and Father Guest after being honored for his dedication to faith, service and the Black Catholic Ministry Commission.

Above and below, Deacon Johnson hits the dance floor, and attendees enjoy the music of To the Max.
