The Catholic Star Herald highlights the Diocese’s student athletes who stood out during the month of December.

Micah Danna

Wildwood Catholic Academy, North Wildwood
Basketball

Micah Danna has made an instant impression for the Wildwood Catholic Academy boys basketball team this season.

Danna, a junior transfer from Mainland High School, was the Crusaders’ top scorer through the first month of the season, averaging 16.2 points per game, while earning 26 of his 81 points from the free-throw line.

Danna kicked off the season with a team-high 30 points in a 65-61 loss to Atlantic Christian School on opening night. He ended December with a 14-point effort in a 61-28 win over Collingswood at the Boardwalk Basketball Classic on Dec. 28 to raise his team’s record to 3-3.

Alyce Lehman

Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, Pennsauken
Swimming

Alyce Lehman’s dominance in the swimming pool has taken another stride.

The Bishop Eustace Preparatory School senior recorded NJSIAA state qualifying times in every race she swam in the month of December, which includes six individual events and all three relays.

Lehman, a member of the USA National Junior Team, swam impressive times in December in the 50 freestyle (24.18), 100 free (57.74), 200 free (1:53.82), 100 backstroke (59.28), 100 butterfly (55.90) and individual medley (2:05.34) to help the Crusaders start the season with a 1-1-1 record.

Lehman will attend Stanford University in the fall.

Khalia Lewis

Our Lady of Mercy Academy, Newfield
Basketball

Khalia Lewis has become just the fifth player in school history to eclipse 1,000 career points.

The Our Lady of Mercy Academy junior hit the milestone Dec. 22 in a 25-point effort during a 67-42 victory over Absegami High School. After scoring 422 points in her freshman year, Lewis accounted for 498 last season as a sophomore.

Lewis joined Jeannine Heil, Taylor Thompson, Madelynn Bernhardt and Savannah Prescott as the only players to reach 1,000 points at OLMA. Lewis is closing in on Bernhardt’s school record of 1,254 points, which was set in 2024. She is committed to play at the United States Naval Academy in 2027.

Christian Shenk

Saint Augustine Preparatory School, Richland
Swimming

A double finalist at the state Meet of Champions a year ago, Christian Shenk is racing off to an incredible start for the 2025-26 season.

In December, Shenk, a junior, swam lightning-fast times of 22.12 in the 50-yard freestyle, 51.28 in the 100 backstroke and 1:41.29 in the 200 free, as the Hermits went 3-0 during the month.

Shenk, who is verbally committed to swim at the United States Military Academy in West Point, is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American with a 3.9 GPA. He qualified for the Winter Junior National Championships with a 2:07.52 in the 200-meter long course backstroke and a 58.57 in the 100-meter long course backstroke.

Jaden Simpson

Camden Catholic High School, Cherry Hill
Wrestling

Jaden Simpson joined Camden Catholic’s prestigious 100-career win club during his quarterfinal win at the Robin Leff Tournament on Dec. 14, en route to a first-place finish at 175 pounds.

Simpson, a senior and two-time Region 8 champion who placed fourth in the state last year at 175 pounds, went 4-2 at the Beast of the East Tournament on Dec. 22. Simpson earned a tech fall over William Caputo of Kennett High School in the Round of 32 before falling in the Round of 16.

Through his first 10 matches of the season, Simpson was 8-2 with a pair of pins and two tech falls.

Chase Wolk

Camden Catholic High School, Cherry Hill
Bowling

Chase Wolk is rounding out his senior year of bowling in fantastic fashion. The Camden Catholic High School senior averaged 188.2 pins in his first six matches of the season as the Irish went 4-1-1 in the month of December.

Wolk followed it up with a season-best 635 series at the Olympic Conference Holiday Tournament on Dec. 17 to finish ninth place individually.

Wolk was the model of consistency in the first month of the season, as all six of his dual meet series ended up between 550 and 599 pins. Eight of his 18 games in those matches were 200-plus efforts, with a high game of 215 in a match against Lenape on Dec. 10.
