Ava Anderson, a second grader at St. Mary School, Vineland, pets Rusty, a 2-year-old therapy dog with Fido & Friends Assisted Therapy Group. The school recently hosted a night of service in association with several local organizations: Fido & Friends, Wildlife Refuge, Smiles for Soldiers, Nickels for Nets, Books and Blankets, Blessing Bags and Family Promise. After collecting donations of towels, blankets, books, toiletries and nickels, the school spent the night packaging care bags for the homeless, blankets for children, art for soldiers, dog treats and bird feeders for the ASPCA, and rolling nickels to save children from malaria.
