Bishop Galante names new priest conveners, pastors

Bishop Joseph A. Galante announces the following appointments:

– Father Allain B. Caparas, parochial vicar, St. Peter, Merchantville, to pastor/convener, Queen of Angels, Buena Borough, St. Rose of Lima, Newfield and St. Mary, Malaga, effective June 13.

– Father Nicholas Dudo, parochial vicar, Our Lady of Hope, Blackwood to pastor/convener, Assumption, Galloway and St. Nicholas, Egg Harbor Township, effective July 31.

– Father Michael J. Matveenko, pastor, Assumption, Galloway and Administrator, St. Nicholas, Egg Harbor Township, to pastor, St. Charles Borromeo, Sicklerville, for a six year term, effective July 31.

– Father Edward F. Namiotka, pastor, Queen of Angels, Buena Borough, and St. Mary, Malaga, and president, Sacred Heart High School, to pastor, St. Joseph, Somers Point, for a six year term, effective June 30.

Father Caparas, 33, attended Seton Hall University, South Orange, and St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Wynnewood, Pa. He was ordained May 20, 2006, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Glassboro.

He was parochial vicar of Queen of the Angels Parish, Landisville, before being assigned to St. Peter in 2009.

Father Dudo, 47, studied at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Wynnewood, Pa., and Pontifical University, Rome. He was ordained June 14, 2008, in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Atlantic City.

He was parochial vicar at Holy Maternity Parish, Audubon, 2008; St. Agnes, Blackwood, 2009-10; and Our Lady of Hope, Blackwood, 2010-11.

Father Matveenko, 54, has been pastor of Assumption Parish since 2002.

He studied at Rutgers University, Camden, and Immaculate Conception Seminary, Mahwah, before being ordained May 29, 1982 in St. Augustine Church, Ocean City.

He taught at Wildwood Catholic High School, 1986-87; and was parochial vicar at Holy Rosary Parish, Cherry Hill, 1982-86; Holy Family, Sewell, 1987-91; St. Cecilia, Pennsauken, 1991-92; St. Margaret, Woodbury Heights, 1992-97; and Resurrection, Marmora, 1997-2002.

He also has served as a member of the Liturgical Commission and Presbyteral Council.

Father Namiotka, 50, has divided his ministry between Catholic education and parish work.

He joined the faculty of St. Joseph High School, Hammonton, in 1991 and became assistant principal there in 1994. Three years later he became vice principal of Sacred Heart High School, Vineland, and in 1998 he was named principal, a position he held until 2008 when he became president of the school.

Father Namiotka studied at St. Charles Seminary, Wynnewood, Pa., and Mount St. Mary’s Seminary, Emmitsburg, Md. He was ordained May 16, 1987 in St. Ann Church, Wildwood.

He was parochial vicar of St. Matthew Parish, National Park, 1987-91. He was named pastor of Queen of Angels Parish, Landisville, in 2005, and continued to serve there after being named pastor of St. Mary, Malaga, in 2009.
