Those wishing to take part in an honest dialogue about diversity are invited to “Open Wide Our Hearts – A Conversation About Race” on Saturday, Feb. 25, from noon to 2 p.m. in Galloway.
The event is being sponsored by Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish and the group Embracing Race-The Conversation, an ecumenical effort to promote racial dialogue. Those of all backgrounds and faiths are invited to enter into an authentic conversation about racism, how to acknowledge and confront it, and how to move in faith toward creating more loving communities.
The event, which will be held in the Assumption Regional Catholic School cafeteria, 146 South Pitney Road, will also include a light lunch. To R.S.V.P., call the parish office at 609-562-0008, ext. 2.
“Open Wide Our Hearts” takes its name from the U.S. bishops’ 2018 pastoral letter against racism. The document can be read on the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ website or HERE.
Embracing Race-The Conversation was founded in 2018 by Mary Anne Degenhart and Tony DeSantis, both parishioners of Sacred Heart Parish, Camden, along with Brent Miller, pastor of First Baptist Church of Collingswood, and Lorraine Harris, then-pastor of Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Collingswood.
