Catholic Relief Services has thanked the Diocese of Camden’s faithful for their efforts toward the organization’s Rice Bowl Program this past Lent.
All told, the Diocese of Camden raised $72,233.62 for the program, which aims to alleviate hunger and poverty throughout the nation and globe. Since its inception in 1975, the Rice Bowl has provided lifesaving support to more than 159 million people in more than 100 countries.
“I am humbled by your generosity and inspired by your compassion. Your kindness is the very embodiment of Jesus’ teachings to care for our most needy brothers and sisters,” Sean L. Callahan, president and CEO of Catholic Relief Services, wrote in a letter to Bishop Dennis Sullivan.
“Thank you for living your faith and answering the prayers of so many,” he said.
