Deacon William Louis Peters, 88, who retired in Galloway and most recently served in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Absecon, died Aug. 1.

Though ordained in the Diocese of Paterson, Deacon Peters served in the Diocese of Camden for the past 20 years. Before that, he served in Randolph, Morris County.
Born Feb. 6, 1934, to the late Louis and Rose Peters in Jersey City, his life centered around his Catholic faith, family and friends.
“He administered to all those who needed help, including many years with Marriage Encounter,” his family recalled in announcing his passing.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carmela (Connie); his daughters, Alice and Michele; son, William; grandchildren, Megan, Clare, Christine, Robert, Katelyn, Ryan, Amanda and Michael; and great-grandchildren, Loralie, Hunter, Ava, Parker, Kai and Teagan.
A visitation will be held 1-3 p.m. and 6:30- 8 p.m. Aug. 5 and 9-10 a.m. Aug. 6 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Aug. 6 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arc of Sussex County, scarc.org, or Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in his memory.
