To celebrate and support its charitable, educational and spiritual ministries, the Diocese of Camden is rallying the Catholic community to participate in the #iGiveCatholic Giving Day. The event takes place Nov. 30, which is also #GivingTuesday, the global day of giving.

This is the first time the Diocese is taking part in #iGiveCatholic. The campaign launches the charitable season and brings the Catholic community together to give thanks and give back.

“This 24-hour giving event will help the local participating Catholic entity of your choice to raise needed funds for projects, initiatives or any effort where a little extra support is helpful,” Bishop Dennis Sullivan said in a video message to the faithful of South Jersey.

Last fall, through #iGiveCatholic, 40 partnering dioceses and the National Catholic Education Association raised more than $12.7 million for $2,600-plus participating parishes, schools and ministries. Since its inaugural year in 2015, the #iGiveCatholic Giving Day has yielded continued growth in not only a number of participating dioceses and their participating nonprofits, but also total donations and average gift amount.

“We saw how successful #iGiveCatholic was for other dioceses around the country and thought why not give it a try? The past year-and-a-half has been challenging for many Catholic organizations due to the pandemic. This campaign provides an opportunity to fund programs or projects that may be stretched thin,” said Mariann Gilbride, Camden Diocese’s director of development.

Twenty-one parishes, 12 schools and four nonprofit ministries of the Diocese have jumped at that opportunity and registered for #iGiveCatholic. These organizations are seeking funds for initiatives ranging from the upkeep of parish property, to youth ministry, religious education, bereavement ministry and more. Donors can find and support these organizations by visiting camden.igivecatholic.org and selecting from the list of participants. When donors click on an organization, they will be directed to a profile page for that specific parish, school or ministry. These links will be available starting Nov. 15.

The #iGiveCatholic Giving Day includes an advanced giving phase, which runs Nov.15-29. For those who prefer to donate with cash or check, offline donations are also acceptable. These offline donations should be sent directly to the participating parish, school or ministry and  received by Nov. 30 to be included in the #iGiveCatholic fundraising totals.

“Mother Teresa said, ‘It’s not how much we give, but in how much love we put into giving,’” Bishop Sullivan said. “I ask you to give out of love for God and one another. Please join me in saying, ‘I Give Catholic” by donating on Nov. 30.”
