Eugene ‘Spanky’ Pirolli, printer, dies

Eugene “Spanky” Pirolli died April 2 at the age of 82. He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2014.

Mr. Pirolli was the founder of Pirolli Printing in Bellmawr. With a background in mechanical repair of printing equipment, he started the company in the basement of his home. He taught his children the printing craft and four of them followed his lead into the printing field or related industries. Mr. Pirolli remained active in the company as long as his health allowed him.

For the past 21 years Mr. Pirolli was an avid wine maker for which he received many accolades, including first-place awards from the Vendemmia Wine Festival in Philadelphia. Although he enjoyed this hobby, he was not a wine-drinker himself — rather he got great pleasure from having family and friends enjoy his creations.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, six children, 30 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 9 at. St. Joachim Parish, Mary, Mother of the Church, Bellmawr.
