Father Wallace and others honored at interfaith service

Father Joseph D. Wallace and Claire Collins, choir director of Holy Trinity Parish, Margate, were honored at the Father Schiavo Interfaith Service at Beth El Synagogue. Also honored at the event May 22 was Egg Harbor Township Mayor James “Sonny” McCollough.

The interfaith service is held every year in memory of Father Thom Schaivo, who served as parochial vicar at Blessed Sacrament Church in Margate and was a friend of Beth El Rabbi Aaron Krauss.

Father Wallace received the Brotherhood Award. In addition to his interreligious work, he is pastor of Notre Dame de la Mer Parish in Wildwood and president of Wildwood Catholic High School.

Collins received the Sisterhood Award. She chairs the Music Department at Holy Spirit High School, Absecon, and conducted two selections at the worship service. The choir included singers from Beth El, Blessed Sacrament Parish and Holy Spirit High School.

Mayor McCollough received the Devoted Leadership Award.
