Praise and worship was in abundance – both physically and in the heart – during the Diocese’s annual Hispanic Catholic Charismatic Renewal Conference on Nov. 11 in Blackwood.
“Praise is the sublime prayer that includes in itself all forms of prayer,” said Father Dalton Reyes, Servants of the Holy Spirit, who was visiting from Colombia to be the event’s guest preacher. “The Eucharist is the driving force of the servant’s life; without it we are lost, our hearts dry up and we have nothing to give in the service of our brothers and sisters.”

More than 400 people, including parish leaders, gathered at Our Lady of Hope Regional School and Saint Jude Church (Our Lady of Hope Parish) to reflect on the day’s theme, “Jesus Eucharist: Source of Worship and Healing,” as well as take part in spiritual teachings, prayer, Eucharistic Adoration and Mass.
“It is good to know that the Hispanic Charismatic Renewal in the Diocese is always attentive to the movements of the Church,” said Andrés Arango, Bishop’s Delegate for Hispanic Ministry and director of evangelization for the Diocese of Camden. “This was reflected in the conference, where we discussed the National Eucharistic Revival in relation to some of the particularities of the charismatic spirituality, such as Adoration and healing.”

The next day, Nov.12, about 150 leaders of the various charismatic prayer groups in the Diocese of Camden gathered for a day of formation on the identity of charismatic groups. Father Reyes gave two talks and presided at the Eucharist and blessing with the Blessed Sacrament, sending the leaders to continue their ministry in their parishes.
Kathia Arango, national coordinator of the Hispanic Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the USA and Canada, said, “It was great to hear Father Reyes motivate the leaders of the charismatic groups on the identity of the Charismatic Spirituality. It was a great day for the groups to continue to be faithful to the movements of the Holy Spirit.”
