Rev. Mr. David Rivera, 29, will be ordained to the priesthood on Saturday, July 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Camden, by Bishop Joseph A. Galante.
Rev. Mr. Rivera entered St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in 2001, after studying at Rutgers University, Camden.
As a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Camden, the deciding moment for him in his journey to the priesthood came when he attended a “Come and See” retreat at St. Charles, sponsored by the Diocese of Camden.
“The seminarians were entering the chapel for evening prayer,” he explained. “As I watched everyone prepare for prayer I felt myself saying inwardly that I wanted to be here to give this way of life a chance. God used that weekend to encourage my first steps toward following a priestly vocation.”
In addition to St. Charles Seminary, Rev. Mr. Rivera also studied at Pontifical North American College in Rome.
