Deacon William P. Iannuzzi, 92, died on Jan. 21.
Ordained on Oct. 15, 1988, by Bishop George H. Guilfoyle, Deacon Iannuzzi served at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Camden, and Saint Peter Celestine Parish in Cherry Hill before his retirement in 2004.
Deacon Leo McBlain, who served with Deacon Iannuzzi at Saint Peter Celestine, remembered a “dedicated, faithful, quiet-mannered and consistent” man.
“Once he took on a task, he stayed with it,” he said.
These tasks included ministering to the sick at Cooper Hospital, Camden, and joining with the Filipino community every year for the “Misa de Gallo” celebration before Christmas.
Deacon Iannuzzi was the husband of Mary Ann (née Hess); father of Ann Diem (Henry) of Maple Shade, Kathy Palazzo (Frank) of Sicklerville, Patti Carobini (Paul) of Pasadena, Maryland, Joe Iannuzzi (Maureen) of Flemington, N.J., Michael Iannuzzi (Chris) of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania, Teresa Lewis (Jeremy) of Northfield Center, Ohio, Mary Beth Buehler (Carl) of Marlton, N.J., and the late Tommy Iannuzzi; grandfather of 16 and great-grandfather of eight with two additions expected in February; and brother of Fran Triglia and the late Marie Nordone and Donald Iannuzzi.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 25 at Christ Our Light Church in Cherry Hill. Entombment was private, at the convenience of the family.
