Samuel L. Vaccarella, Sr., age 95, died Aug. 7, surrounded by his family at his daughter Linda’s home in Washington Township.
Mr. Vaccarella was a longtime resident of Mt. Ephraim. Husband of the late Ethel (nee Law), he is the father of Father Samuel L. Vaccarella, T.O.R., JoAnn Gallagher (Richard), Nancy Karaszkiewicz (Jim) and Linda Fort (Ed). Grandfather of Brian, Sam, Sheri and Eddie. He was the brother of Leon “Ollie” (Annetta), John and the late Lena Pietrofitta, Joe, Nien and Frank. He will also be missed by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Vaccarella was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Mt. Ephraim and served as president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Vaccarella was inducted into Hammonton High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Mr. Vaccarella retired from NJ Transit after 42 years as a Class A bus mechanic and was a member of their 25 Year Club.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 13 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Sicklerville. Interment was at New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.

Mr. Vaccarella will always be remembered for his love of family, wisdom, faith and positive outlook, survivors said. He was a true role model.
