On Thursday, Oct. 29, Our Lady Star of the Sea Church and School held an Italian fall feast at Atlantic City Country Club in Northfield, with food, music, and other entertainment. As well, two alumni of the parish and school, Kelly McClay ‘73 and Steve Brady ‘67, were recognized with “Shining Stars” Awards.
Father Joseph Pham, pastor of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish, gave the invocation, and Sister Shamus Zehrer, principal of Our Lady Star of the Sea School, gave the welcome and remarks.
McClay, Dean of the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College, is a resident of Mays Landing. For 18 years, she worked in the food industry in area casinos such as Resorts, The Golden Nugget, and Trump’s Castle.
At Resorts, she was named Executive Sous Chef, the first female to do so in the Atlantic City area. In 2003, she was named Acting Dean of the Academy of Culinary Arts, and in 2005, the position became permanent. She is currently pursuing an MBA from Rutgers University.
Brady, President and CEO of Ocean City Home Bank, lives in Marmora. He has held his current positions since 1991, and has served on the Board of Governors of the New Jersey Community Bankers trade association.
He is also a member of the Professional Development Committee of America’s Community Bankers; a charter member of the local 200 Club, and an advisory member of the South Jersey AIDS alliance. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Ocean Point Healthcare Center, and a member of the Board of Directors of First Night Ocean City.
