Brother Stanley Zubek, SM, of the Marianist Family Retreat Center in Cape May Point is currently celebrating 60 years of ministry as a member of the Society of Mary.
Born in and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Brother Stanley, 78, professed first vows on Aug. 22, 1961, in Marcy, New York.
For the past decade, he has been serving in the music ministry at the Cape May Point center that offers retreat opportunities for families, couples and individuals.
Previously, he served in music and other ministries in Malawi, Zambia and Kenya, as well as Ohio and Tennessee.
“I’ve lived in different cultures and been deeply graced through contact with the people of each culture, especially their values and way of life – their language, customs, music, art and literature,” he said. “Through the eyes of faith, I stand in awe and say, ‘How great thou art.’ Like a single, bright-colored thread, music is woven into the very fabric of my everyday living. It shows up in every work I have done. Music has truly been a gift from God.”
