Holy Trinity Regional School in Westville Grove, formed 10 years ago after a three-school consolidation, will move to Woodbury this fall and be renamed Holy Angels Catholic School.
The former Saint Patrick’s School, which closed in 2007 when it, Saint Matthew’s in National Park and Most Holy Redeemer in Westville Grove, merged into Holy Trinity, will serve as the educational center for preK-8 students.
“The excitement is growing,” remarked Elsie Tedeski, Holy Trinity principal, adding that the relocation was due in part to declining enrollment (130 students this year, compared to 190 in 2007, when it first opened), with hopes that the move to Woodbury will attract more families desiring Catholic education.
The former Saint Patrick’s school building is in better physical condition than the one currently being used, she said, including having air conditioning.
Holy Angels Parish, which has several facilities located near the new Holy Angels School, including the worship center and parish offices, has used the building for family faith formation. Those activities, which include religious education classes and adult classes, will remain when the new school opens.
To enhance the school’s curriculum, Holy Angels Catholic School will offer the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program and expanded academic and extracurricular activities. With the school’s proximity to RiverWinds Community Center, a school swim team is planned as well.
An open house for the new Holy Angels Catholic School, at its new location in Woodbury, 211 Cooper Street, will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 4-7:30 p.m.
