Margaret Kent is the new principal at Holy Name School, a Catholic Partnership School in Camden. Although she is new in her leadership role, Kent has a long history with the school, where she spent the last nine years as a middle school language arts teacher.
“It was time. So much discernment went into making this decision,” said Kent about answering the call to be principal.
As for taking the reins during the COVID pandemic, Kent said, “I think it was in God’s plan. This time, this place.” She credits recently retired principal Patricia Quinter and her teaching colleagues for a smooth transition. “There is so much support at this school. I was encouraged to pursue leadership,” she said.
Kent also acknowledged The Partnership for excellent support in areas such as human resources, technology, curriculum and assessment.
A graduate of Rutgers University, Kent began her teaching career at the former Most Holy Redeemer School in Westville. She also taught middle school language arts at the Christian Brothers San Miguel School in Camden for 10 years. When the school closed, Kent came to Holy Name.
Kent said she wants Holy Name School to be connected to the community, for “every child to feel safe, love, accepted. To teach peace.”
