Permanent deacons from across the Diocese gathered for the Diaconate Convocation held Sept. 20 at Saint Agnes Church, Our Lady of Hope Parish, Blackwood. Bishop Joseph Williams thanked the deacons for the service and joined them for lunch. Father Joseph Szolack, parish pastor, presented the keynote address and spoke about the ministry and partnership of the pastor and deacon, as well as parish life. Along with presentations on a number of diocesan-wide ministries, the convocation gave the deacons time to share experiences and ideas in service of their parishes. Also on hand to uplift the men in their ministries were Deacon Charles Schiapelli, assistant director of Diaconate Formation for the Diocese of Camden, below, and Father Nicholas Dudo, diocesan Vicar for Clergy.
