On Feb. 28, the seventh and eighth grade confirmandi of the Christ the Redeemer Parish in Atco went on a pilgrimage to the Year of Mercy Doors at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Camden.
After going through the Cathedral Door of Mercy, the 65 students and the adults with them prayed for Pope Francis’ intentions and a special intention.
The students continued their pilgrimage at the Saint John Neumann Shrine in Philadelphia where they received a tour from the Redemptorist clergy. The reliquary containing relics of Saint John Neumann was opened so students could see these relics. Upon entering the basement shrine the students went through a second Door of Mercy and were able to see the glass enclosed reliquary that contains the remains of Saint John Neumann. The confirmandi prayed in the exact same spot that Popes John Paul II and Francis prayed on their visits to Philadelphia.
