Bishop Joseph A. Galante has announced the appointment of Father Walter Norris as pastor of St. Vincent Pallotti, Haddon Township effective Monday, Feb. 22.
Father Norris, 63, previously served as pastor of St. Matthew Parish, National Park.
Father Norris grew up in Baltimore and entered the Immaculate Conception Province of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottines) in 1964, studying at Oblate College in Washington, D.C. before being ordained June 9, 1973, at Basilica of the Assumption in Baltimore.
From 1975-80, he was vocations director at Bishop Eustace Preparatory School in Pennsauken.
In 1990, Father Norris received a law degree from Widener University. From 1999-2007, he worked for South Jersey Legal Services and the Camden Center for Social Law and Justice. In 2007, he was also appointed Special Assistant to the Vicar General in Curia for Legal Matters.
In 2003, he became part-time parochial vicar at St. Matthew Parish in National Park. That same year, he was incardinated into the Diocese of Camden, and became administrator of St. Matthew’s.
