Youth from six counties in the Diocese of Camden will trade fun in the sun for service at the shore as part of the Summer in the City service project sponsored by the Office of Lifelong Faith Formation: Youth Ministries.
Beginning Sunday, Aug. 10 through Saturday, Aug. 16, the community service project provides high school teenagers the opportunity to volunteer at various work sites in Atlantic City including Catholic Charities, a nursing home, soup kitchens, and local Catholic parishes. Lodging will be provided at Holy Trinity Parish, St. James Church, in Ventnor.
According to Greg Coogan, youth ministry director, “The combination of service at multiple work sites and reflection sessions gives our young people the chance to use their talents and abilities to help their neighbor, and increase their awareness and understanding of the importance of the rights and dignity of the human person.”
The service program is limited to 35 participants and the fee is $100 which covers meals and lodging for the teens. For more information, or to register, contact 856-583-6122 or e-mail gregory.coogan@camdendiocese.org
