On Dec. 2, the Diocese of Camden will participate in #GivingTuesday, a global initiative dedicated to generosity and giving.
In the midst of commercial efforts such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday has challenged families and organizations to “be part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity,” as the organization’s website states.
Through the website https://16042.thankyou4caring.org, starting now, individuals can donate to the Diocese of Camden, and support the work of diocesan ministries that serve the poor, frail and hungry, as well as families, youth and young adults, senior citizens, seminarians, and retired priest and religious, in the mission of Jesus Christ.
Using the hashtag #GivingTuesday on Twitter and on Facebook, individuals can share their giving efforts and inspire others to do the same.
“This movement offers an outstanding opportunity for us to create a “Spirit of Giving” during a time filled with much materialism,” said Sheila McGirl, associate director of Development for the Diocese.
“In addition, the diocese may receive some donations to help us continue the good work we are able to provide our communities,” she said.
#GivingTuesday was founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation.
