
Father Anthony Patrizio, who retired in 2012 after more than 45 years of active ministry, died on Feb. 13. He was 81.
Born in Afragola, Naples, Father Patrizio studied at the University of the Propagation of the Faith in Rome, and Saint John Vianney Seminary in East Aurora, N.Y. He was ordained a priest on May 21, 1966, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Camden, by Archbishop Celestine J. Damiano.
His education also included a master’s degree in religious education from LaSalle College (now University), and a master’s in education, specializing in guidance counseling, from Villanova University.
Father Patrizio served as parochial vicar at Holy Name Parish, Camden, and for many years he ministered to the community at Villa Pieta in Linwood. He was parochial vicar at Saint Vincent de Paul Parish in Mays Landing 2005-12.
Other assignments included Chaplain, and later Superior, at Our Lady’s Residence, Pleasantville.
Bishop Dennis Sullivan will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial on Feb. 20 at Saint Vincent de Paul Church, Mays Landing, Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
