The Sisters of Saint Joseph Neighborhood Center will host a Topgolf fundraiser, “Tee Time for the SSJ Neighborhood Center,” in Mount Laurel early next month.

Registration for the event is online only and closes July 26. Those in attendance can enjoy three hours of playtime, an appetizer buffet and non-alcoholic drinks from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 3. The fundraiser is open to golfers and non-golfers of all ages and experience levels.
Money raised from the event will benefit the center, which “fosters a sense of community, uniting neighbor to neighbor and neighborhood to neighborhood” in the Cramer Hill section of Camden and beyond, “by providing opportunities for connection, enrichment and empowerment,” said Sister Bonnie McMenamin, SSJ, the center’s director.
Specifically, funds from the event will support the Madres Abrazando Más Inciciativas Sanas (M.A.I.M.S.) program. This initiative helps young families by providing educational opportunities for mothers in need.
“Through the generosity of the SSJ and our faithful donors, the Neighborhood Center can offer assistance with food, clothing, diapers, household goods and rent. However, the reality is that, for many months, we are limited in the support we can give our neighbors and their families,” Sister Bonnie said.
Recently, the Neighborhood Center has been experiencing increased stress based on their neighbor’s needs. Many new families in the community face hardships shortly after settling in. Among these obstacles are “the cost of living and increased cost of food, clothing and rent,” Sister Bonnie said.
She looks forward to “forging new relationships and deepening existing [ones] so that we can further the mission of union” through the fundraiser.
