“Always be a loving father.” Such were the words Bishop Dennis Sullivan gently bestowed upon two priests of the Diocese of Camden on Sept. 9-10 as they were formally installed as parish pastors.
Rounds of applause greeted Father John Dolan, OSFS, as he became pastor of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish, Cape May, at the Vigil Mass on Sept. 9, above and below.

The following morning, Father James King, who served the past year as administrator at the Parish of Saint John Neumann, formally became pastor of the North Cape May community, below. During both Masses, the new pastors took oaths of fidelity and thanked members of the parish’s clergy, staff, pastoral council, finance council and trustees for their service.
Preaching on the weekend’s reading of Ezekiel – “You, son of man, I have appointed watchman for the house of Israel” – Bishop Sullivan told the priests, “Your ministry here is to do what the watchman did for Israel. To keep the people of the parish spiritually healthy. Keep them alive in Christ. Guide them, teach them, help them grow in faith.”
