The Diocese of Camden is preparing for its pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. in October, coinciding with the diocese’s 75th anniversary.
“Being that it is such a milestone anniversary and also that the Diocese of Camden is under the patronage of the Immaculate Conception, we want to ensure that more than ever, the October pilgrimage is a great success,” said Father James Bartoloma, vice-chancellor, and director of the Diocesan Marian Commission, which is organizing the pilgrimage.
The day-long pilgrimage, to take place on Saturday, Oct. 13, will include a concert of sacred music, the rosary, and the “Procession of Parishes” with the representatives of parishes carrying banners. The highlight and conclusion of the pilgrimage will be Mass, celebrated by Bishop Joseph Galante, in the Great Upper Church.
As in the past, there will also be opportunities for pilgrims to explore the Shrine and learn about its history, and to receive the sacrament of reconciliation.
