For Stacy Napolitano, the Diocese of Camden’s Office of Development is about more than raising money.
“I look at development as relationship-building that depends on good communication,” said Napolitano, who has worked for the Diocese of Camden since 2019 and was recently appointed by Bishop Dennis Sullivan to serve as the new director of development. “One thing I’ve enjoyed throughout my time at the Diocese has been collaborating with volunteers and staff to raise funds for various ministries. I look forward to continuing to develop relationships with donors, both individual and corporate, to raise funds to support the mission and ministries of the Diocese of Camden.”
In her tenure with the Office of Development, Napolitano has been responsible for a range of initiatives, most recently serving as associate director of major gifts and stewardship. Over the past several years, she has managed some of the Diocese’s largest fundraising events, including the Catholic Charities’ Annual Dinner & Awards Ceremony; the South Jersey Scholarship Fund’s Spring Sprint for Scholarships campaign; the #iGiveCatholic Giving Day; and the launch for the South Jersey Catholic Ministries Appeal. Her past efforts also include fundraising for last year’s diocesan Eucharistic Congress.
Napolitano also writes a quarterly Stewardship column for the Catholic Star Herald that spotlights donors who support the work of the Diocese, and has helped to relaunch the Catholic Business Network of South Jersey after a pandemic-related hiatus.
“I would like to congratulate Stacy on this occasion and thank her for the great work she has been doing in the Development Office, especially over the past year,” Bishop Sullivan said. “I am confident that she will bring new energy and enthusiasm to fundraising efforts across the Diocese.”
Prior to her service to the Diocese of Camden, Napolitano served as the business development manager for Mainstage Center for the Arts, Blackwood, where she was part of the organization’s public relations and fundraising teams. Earlier in her career, she worked as a public relations consultant for organizations including the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Pennsylvania. She earned a bachelor of arts degree and a master of arts degree in public relations from Rowan University, Glassboro.
In a recent interview, she reflected on her time with the Diocese – and what she is most proud of accomplishing with fellow Office of Development staff.
“I am proud that, when all events shut down in 2020, our team was able to turn the Catholic Charities Annual Dinner into a virtual event that raised more than $180,000 during a crucial time when so many families were in crisis,” she said. “In addition, it’s fulfilling to see the Catholic Business Network of South Jersey back in operation, providing professionals the opportunity to combine their faith with business by networking with others who share the same values.”
Napolitano said she is grateful for her new opportunity, and looks forward to this new role.
“I hope to bring my enthusiasm for collaboration, interest in learning from best practices, and willingness to try new ventures to the position,” she said. “It is meaningful to me that my Catholic faith is at the forefront of all we do here in the Development Office.”
