Mastafa Ejjalili, his wife, Nadia and their children, Ryan, 15, and Lara, 10, were all smiles as they stood in their new house in Glassboro, planning for the future. Ryan wants a basketball court; Lara wants a dog.
“You know, small dreams surround big dreams, which is this house,” Ejjalili said moments before the official ribbon-cutting of the home, a project of the Gloucester County Habitat for Humanity that was also funded with $50,000 from the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. On July 31, city and community dignitaries joined Habitat and the Catholic Daughters in prayer and congratulations for the Ejjalili family, who moved to the United States from Morocco more than 20 years ago.
Theresa Dieterich of Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish, Glassboro, and N.J. state regent of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, said it was heartwarming to know that the family put in 350 hours of work with Habitat, working on other projects as well as their own house.
“That’s how much they are dedicated to having their own home and taking care of the family,” she said. “Live every day to the fullest, and all will be well.”
