Jubilate Deo Chorale and Orchestra joined with Eastern University Ensembles and Church of the Saviour Festival Choir on Dec. 2 at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Philadelphia.
Maestro Dr. Ron Matthews, Chair of the Fine and Performing Arts Division and Music Department at Eastern University, St. Davids, Pa., conducted the 200 voice mixed chorus and symphonic orchestra for the JDCO Christmas celebration, with a bit of Irish flair and a live Nativity presentation. At right, the Holy Family is portrayed by Sarah and Lehn Weaver and their son, Carter David Weaver.
Selections included “The Wexford Carol,” “A Celtic Silent Night” and “Celtic Christmas Celebration,” as well as a holiday classics like “It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and “The Little Drummer Boy.”

This year’s performance was dedicated to Sister Theresa Gottuso, a member of the Religious Teachers Filippini, who died Sept. 22. For 20 years she taught at Paul VI High School, Haddon Township. She also ministered at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Haddon Township.
