South Jersey’s Hispanic Catholics will gather once again this weekend, as they, and Bishop Dennis Sullivan, focus on “Creando una Cultura de Encuentro” (Creating a Culture of Encounter) for their Latino brothers and sisters.
The ninth annual celebration at Vineland’s Divine Mercy Parish (23 W. Chestnut Ave.) from 3-6 p.m. this Sunday, Oct. 6, is “an opportunity to thank God for all that he has given the Latino community here in the Diocese of Camden and in the United States,” said Andres Arango, Bishop’s Delegate for Hispanic Ministry here in the diocese.
The day, he said, will include a Eucharistic celebration with Bishop Sullivan, and a presentation from Ricardo and Lucia Luzondo, co-hosts of the weekly television series “Creados Para Amar” (Created for Love) on EWTN.
As well, to further showcase the theme of unity among the assembled, as pilgrims on the journey of faith supporting one another, prayers will be lifted up for immigrant communities throughout South Jersey and the nation, and there will be a procession of not only Hispanic ministry parishes throughout the diocese, but also native country flags representing their Latin American heritage.
A free event, the day will conclude with a meal of Spanish cuisine. For information, call 856-583-6170, or email norma.guzman@camdendiocese.org
