At Blackwood’s Our Lady of Hope Parish, faithful can now rest beside peaceful waters and bring their prayers “to Jesus through Mary,” as the community’s Grotto the Blessed Virgin Mary was dedicated on the afternoon of Sunday, May 2, by Bishop Dennis Sullivan.
Immediately following the noon Mass, the parish clergy, Knights of Columbus, parishioners, and the bishop processed outside to the grotto, accompanied by the sounds of the parish seven-piece orchestra’s rendition of “Ave Maria.” The ceremony was capped off by the crowning of the blessed Mother in this month of May dedicated to her.
Four years in the making, the grotto, next to the parish’s retention pond, includes a statue of the Blessed Mother, benches, lights and candles to create a relaxing refuge for those seeking the graces of Mary.
