Camden Catholic Hall of Fame ceremony April 23

Camden Catholic High School, Cherry Hill, will welcome 13 individual inductees and two teams into its Hall of Fame, and will celebrate all 157 Hall of Fame members and 15 teams as a part of the special 10th annual event.

Six of the 2016 inductees will be installed in the Emerald Hall of Fame for Academics and Arts, two will enter the Special category for their achievements beyond the school’s halls, and the remaining five individuals and two teams will be installed in the Green and White Hall of Fame for Athletics.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the Grandi Auditorium at Camden Catholic. A cocktail reception will follow the ceremony. Tickets are $50 per person in advance and $60 per person at the door. Purchase online at www.camdencatholic.org/halloffame, call 856-663-2247 ext.136 or email janet.indelicato@camdencatholic.org.

Emerald Hall of Fame for Academics and Arts

— Pat Sariego Brown ‘66: CCHS librarian for 40 years.

— Sister Janet Theresa Marchesani, ‘56: A Dominican Sister of Hope and respected sign language interpreter.

— Daniel B. McDyre ‘59: Spent 29 years as a United States Marine Corps pilot and flew 450 combat missions in Vietnam. Was the Presidential pilot for President Nixon from 1969-72. His multiple awards and honors include Legion on Merit (three-times), Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal (27 times with two stars) for 546 combat missions, Purple Heart, Combat Action Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, and several Presidential Unit Citations. Currently CEO of Viscon International, Inc.

— John L. Pund ‘74: Attorney and CPA. Currently executive managing director, JLP & Associates, a professional service firm specializing in finance counsel services to attorneys, the courts, charter schools, and business owners.

— Thomas J. Shusted ‘44 (posthumous induction): Camden County Freeholder Director (1964-68), Assemblyman (1969-71), Camden County’s first Full Time Prosecutor (1972-79) and Assemblyman-6th District (1980-90).

— Gerard P. Smith, M.D. ‘52: Professor of Behavioral Neuroscience in Psychiatry at the Weill Cornell Medical College since 1973. Published on topics in the history of science. Has held many prestigious positions including director of the Edward W. Bourne Behavioral Research Laboratory, The New York Hospital (Westchester Division), 1968-99 and Director, Eating Disorders Institute, The New York Hospital (Westchester Division) 1984-1988.

Special

— Richard J. Kelly ‘55: accomplished physicist whose career includes work on the Univac III computer at Remington Rand Univac Corp., development of solar power supplies for NASA spacecraft at RCA Astro Electronics Division and 30 years at IBM. Kelly also has provided countless hours of service to those in need as a refugee sponsor, a visitor to N.J.

prisons for six years, and is a 15-year board member of St. Joseph’s Carpenter Society.

— Brother Bartholomew A. Sheehan, S.J. ‘23 (posthumous award): a former Camden County judge and former vice president and trust officer at Camden Trust Co. whose career included terms on the Delaware River Port Authority, the New Jersey State Reapportionment Commission, and the New Jersey Election Commission. Invested as a Knight Commander of the Papal Order of Saint Gregory by Pope Paul VI in 1972. “Brother Bart” began his service as a Jesuit brother following the death of his wife in 1973. He earned a law degree from Temple University in 1932 while playing professional basketball in the Eastern Basketball League.
